Washington Region Religious Campaign Against Torture
Who Are We?
We are an inter-religious membership organization modeled on the National Religious Campaign Against Torture. We are supported by our members, and we work in conjunction with the national campaign.
What Do We Want?
We want an end to all U.S.-sponsored and U.S.-supported torture. Specifically, we call for:
- An end to all U.S. torture of prisoners
- An end to U.S. outsourcing of torture ("renditions")
- All secret prisons to be closed
- An independent commission to investigate human rights abuses at U.S. installations like Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, and Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan.
What Does the Washington Religious Campaign Against Torture Do?
- Sponsors educational events for religious groups
- Witnesses against torture, through vigils, protests, and other actions.
- Communicates with our elected officials'
- Provides resources to local religious groups to assist them in congregational anti-torture work
