Washington Region Religious Campaign Against Torture
WRRCAT Holds First Interfaith Conference on Torture in Region
On June 17, 2006, WRRCAT sponsored a conference entitled "U.S. and Torture: A Religious Call to Action." Over 250 persons attended, representing 35 different religious congregations in the Washington region. The conference was the kick-off event in the campaign to organize religious congregations in the region to stop torture. Participants who attended the conference have pledged to put the torture issue on the agenda of their respective congregations and mobilize opposition to U.S.-sponsored torture.
